Our history

Our history is based on the balance between tradition and innovation. We are pioneers in bunker transport, scope of Navemestra, and innovate daily to safely serve the naval, port, oil & gas, environmental protection, and marine support industries.

Bravante Group’s journey started officially in 1965, but Marcelino dos Anjos Nascimento (founder of the Bravante Group) had been working with kerosene transportation since the 1950’s. Meeting that demand made him embrace the business opportunity that, soon, would knock on his door. Marcelino, Henrique, and Luiz Antônio (brothers and partners) bought a gas station, in Nova Iguaçu, in the early 1960’s.

At the same time, Petrobras (which was already in operation since 1953) invited the brothers to change the brand of the recently acquired gas station. So, they became the first diesel and gas distributor for Petrobras in Rio de Janeiro. From that experience Navegação São Miguel was purchased by the brothers, in 1965, for bunker transport, at the request of Petrobras.

With the expansion of the activities and diversification of business, in 2012 the company become the Bravante Group.

Today, nearly 60 years later, we have five operating fronts consolidated in the market: Navemestra (bunkering), São Miguel Shipyard (naval construction and repair), Hidroclean (environmental protection), Bravante Offshore (marine support) and RRC Technology and Innovation (subsea technology). We are proud of our history and will show you below the milestones of our career.
